Diabetes, a very brief guide

OK for the fortunate uninformed just what is Diabetes?

Put briefly, Diabetes is when the body has problems either making or using Insulin.
There's two types, fairly obviously called, Type 1 and Type 2.
Type 1 usually starts in children while Type 2 usually affects older, often overweight, adults.

Type 1 always needs to be controlled by Insulin injections, whereas Type 2 can be controlled by diet, tablets or injections, depending on how bad it is.

As promised this is a very brief guide, people who have Diabetes already know only too well what is involved as do their carers, family and friends. For the curious among you, or the newly diagnosed, visit the sites below for a more detailed idea of what's involved.
